The question prompt is “What do you think about forums dedicated to snarking on celebrities and public figures?”
When I was a young adult, I thought it was interesting to read gossip mags (the rags). The activities and social lives of celebrities were interesting to read. I didn’t have the experience to discern much or pass judgement on people. After I grew older, I understood life better. I lost interest in reading gossip as entertainment. I switched to reading news, fiction by famous authors, and nonfiction. I didn’t read many books per year, only periodically. After I started blogging, I tried to buy and read books written by bloggers. I wasn’t ready for that. After several years, I tried a different approach. I followed established contemporary authors and read their books. I discovered they used literary devices and shock tactics to gain attention. I retreated to reading old classics of centuries past. After I recovered, I decided I didn’t like fiction so I tried reading nonfiction. That sat well with me.
