When do you feel most lonely and when do you feel most socially connected?

This is Helen’s question prompt for April 6, 2025. My answer is that I used to feel most lonely on public holidays, because that was when I ddin’t have to go out for work, and I had to sit at home.

Later on, I attended church even on weekdays, especially on public holidays, so as to have a meaningful place to visit and avoid feeling alone, sad, and anxious about my future.

I feel socially connected when I’m in church; as we gather together to pray the common prayer and Mass. I feel connected when I attend church groups too. However, I am unable to commit to church groups every week so I avoid that regular activity.

Dear Helen, thank you for your reflective prompt.
