Talk to your pet plant as meditation: Mindful Doodles #229

Mindful Doodles #229
We’re all into ethics now. Some states have banned the sale and purchase of domestic pets because owners grow tired of them and abandon them at the animal shelters. So is it ok to buy and gift potted plants instead? Will new owners of these potted plants abandon them somewhere?

Give a potted plant.

Talk to your pet plant as meditation

There are plant owners who talk to their plants. How do plants hear? They lack ears. Maybe there are mechanisms unknown to us, which enable them to listen and maybe respond to human voices.

Personally, I guess that the speaker benefits more than the plant. When a person talks to their plant or animal pet, they are expressing their thoughts, releasing stress and maybe also meditating. This is good as they reduce their tension level. The plant is a living thing and there is hope that it can hear. The thoughts and emotions are present, unlike when the speaker talks to a non-living object.

If you can get a pet plant, place it somewhere where you spend a lot of time. The place can be at home, or at work, on your work table. If you’re afraid others around you in the environment might hear you talking to your plant, you can think on your thoughts instead. If this doesn’t work for you at your workplace, bring your plant home and place it inside a room where you spend a lot of time. You can also put your pet plant inside your bedroom.

You should water your plant, as recommended according to its species. If you don’t know how often to water your plant, search for this info online. Google the species of plant and read for the info on how often to water the plant. Imagine yourself giving tender care to your pet plant.

You can talk to your plant at anytime of the day. Tell it about your problems. Talk about your sorrows and your joys. Try this for a few weeks. Keep a diary to record your thoughts and feelings at the end of each day, or immediately after each talking session. Examples of entries:

Headings for my diary l Date l Time l My thoughts and feelings after talking to my plant

I hope this post can be of some help to readers.
