Meditate in your personal sanctuary: Mindful Doodles #193

Mindful Doodles #193 – Living in shoe box

There is a shortage of living space in some cities. Housing developers are building smaller apartments to conserve space, while maximizing profits that can be gained with a smaller build-in area. An apartment’s kitchen can be so tight that you barely have space to stretch out your arms. You might be able to stretch your arms and touch the walls of the kitchen with each hand. That’s how a tight squeeze it is.

Small living space like shoe box.

Meditate in your personal sanctuary

Many of us live in apartments. We have to carve our own private niche and meditate in peace. We’ll love our sanctuary and home because of this practice of meditation.

I used to live in a tiny, two bedroom apartment. I used my dining table for my work station. Every morning, before anyone else woke up, I sat on my living room sofa to read, pray and meditate. The main portion of the apartment was a large room with only courtesy demarkation into living, dining and kitchen areas, without any wall boundaries. Yes, all these 3 rooms are together as one. I found space using specific hours of the day.

Where can you find your personal sanctuary when you don’t have much private space around you? You can create your personal space. You can use your own bedroom. If you share a bedroom, you should find a small space in another part of your home, to make it your own. It can be the backyard deck, attic, or small corner of a room that’s seldom used or anywhere that you can use. If necessary, you might try to use movable partitions to screen your corner for privacy.

If you still find it noisy in your special nook, use ear plugs. They’re cheap and can give you quiet or a much reduced intensity.

Meditate.

Maintain your peace.

Be happy.
