I’m thankful for not being that wildly enthusiastic, as to pay USD$1000 per ticket, to watch Fifa World Cup this June 2026. Not to forget, there are hidden costs in air tickets, accommodations, food and transport to get around. I sympathize with football fans who are addicted, to pay that much to feed their obsession.

This is my main reason why I decided to write my thanks, centering around the upcoming Fifa World Cup 2026. Here are my TToT, Ten Things of Thankfulness.

  1. Thankful to Andrew Giuliani, for his suggestion to watch football matches on TV. His idea reflects the practical thriftiness of not buying expensive tickets, which are made costly because of other fans’ enthusiasm for the World Cup matches.
  2. Thankfulness for the warning that Fifa is a private entity who does not exercise price controls. Thanks for the lesson on dynamic pricing, which discourages buying tickets to watch the football matches in person.
  3. Thanks to the inflated prices for air tickets and hotel accommodations during this Fifa season, international travelers are discouraged to travel to US, Canada, Mexico and other countries hosting the matches in June 2026.
  4. Thanks to the POTUS (President Of The United States) for setting an example, by speaking against the extravagance of buying a $1000 ticket to watch US vs Paraguay in June 2026.
  5. We’re appreciative of Fifa’s explanations that their algorithm of dynamic pricing is meant to generate (as much) revenue to support global development of football, for the sake of its posterity.
  6. Canadians give special thanks to their provincial government for banning the re-sale of football event tickets, at prices above their original values.
  7. Fifa maybe contributing their thanks to this list. They maybe thankful that despite dynamic pricing, over five million tickets have already been sold since April 2026.
  8. Illegal immigrants maybe thankful for the reminder that they could be arrested and deported, if they are caught by US Immigration enforcement.
  9. Legal visitors and citizens are thankful to be assured of safe passage in the US.
  10. The US has some thankfulness for the fact that their 250th anniversay of Independence is marked by the country hosting some of the World Cup matches.
