The answer is yes, I saw it. Someone may have lost a small, black ball. I wasn’t wearing my eye glasses when I saw it moving from a corner of my room, towards the nearest one of my bedpost. Then, it seemed to have impinged on the bedpost and bounced back along the same path as its original direction. Back into the corner it went.
I couldn’t believe what I saw. I put on my spectacles to stare at the trajectory of the ball. I saw nothing. There was no ball to be found. I took off my specs. There it was again. Like instant replay. I couldn’t believe my eyes so I had to wear my specs to see better.
Nothing.
I took off my eye glasses again and looked at the same corner. Like a tiktok or youtube video stuck in replay, the same ball and same travel path rolled untiringly.
I searched Google about seeing small balls and found a suggestion that was closest to question; Eye Floaters. They are dark, moving specks that drift across vision. The specks are in the clear, jelly-like fluid behind the cornea (the vitreous humor). This is a logical explanation for seeing a small black moving in a fixed path.
Some posts back, I had written stories about big, bright spheres that floated mid-air here and there. Now, this story is about a black, small, manifested ball moving to and fro, at a corner. This post is a story about a corner, and this prompt is chosen because the word starts with alphabet C.
This A to Z prompts series challenge asks the writer to choose a prompt from a list created by Dr. Lee Zacharias, a professor emeritus of English, at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has contributed one chapter for “NOW WRITE! NONFICTION” and it is titled “Riffing”. This chapter has a list of word prompts and I’ve chosen “corner” to write for this post.
