Failed meditation & reflection

I read an anecdote from a father, who said his young son in elementary school, used to retreat into his bedroom, when he felt upset. That was how he meditated in his quiet place. Children know how to seek safe inner sanctuary, away from critical eyes of the harsh society.

One day, the boy was caught between a rock and a hard place, at school, where he couldn’t immediately retreat into his sanctuary. He was accused of committing an offence. Can you guess what happened?

His teachers did their methods of meditation (also known as reflection) which consisted of

  1. Personal reflection.
  2. Forced confession and admission of guilt, without investigation and trial.
  3. Forced confrontation with the accusers of the offence, to apologize for the alleged offence, without concrete evidence of the offence.
  4. Forced written admission of guilt. They do this in police stations and now in elementary schools.

He didn’t go home to his bedroom where his comfort was. He jumped from a high building and died in hospital. His teachers and classmates!

Failed meditation and reflection.
