Meditating on my stream of consciousness at the airport

Air stewardess sleeps and dreams in her pod on board airplane.

I meditated with my stream of consciousness, aka brain chatter, whilst at the airport on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

These are my thoughts:

  1. On the day of departure, there is road works next to our house, and on the road opposite us.
  2. We booked a cab and the driver navigated the road diversion easily, to arrive outside.
  3. We are thankful the driver didn’t abandon us and drive away because of the road diggers and steam roller paving a small hole in the road.
  4. We loaded a luggage in the boot and sat inside.
  5. Finally, the time has arrived to go to the airport.
  6. We have arrived early.
  7. Now we’re walking to the Departure Hall.
  8. My, there are always so many people here.
  9. Some are passengers, some are workers, some are visitors, like me.
  10. What are the latest decorations? Maybe I can get a picture.
  11. Firstly, AA has to queue to check-in.
  12. I’m glad I don’t have to travel out.
  13. I’m already triggered just thinking about it.
  14. My last visit was bad.
  15. I shall always remember I took around 10 years to get over that.
  16. Time does put distance between the past and present.
  17. I’m grateful I didn’t need to pay a shrink to heal.
  18. Wow, there’s almost nobody at the manual check-in.
  19. He clears his luggage fast. He’s got his boarding pass.
  20. Good. We’re free to roam about until the gate opens for his boarding.
  21. Let’s go to the international book store.
  22. I wonder if I can see anything interesting there.
  23. I would love to get David Szalay’s book “Flesh”.
  24. Or maybe some books from other authors.
  25. I seldom get to come to this airport.
  26. It is a long way from home and the fare is considerable.
  27. We might as well make the best of it.
  28. It could be a long, long time before he travels back.
  29. I’ll be able to finish reading my book before he returns.
  30. That’s sad.
  31. Life has many goodbyes and returns.
  32. Its a small book store.
  33. There are some comforts for the traveler.
  34. I’m looking for a comfort to bring home.
  35. I think I’ve got a book.
  36. I hope its on some discount.
  37. Yes, buy two, get the second one on 50% less.
  38. The cashier is telling me the cheaper book of the two will be discounted.
  39. That’s pretty good too.
  40. We still got some time to spare.
  41. Let’s sit somewhere in the Departure Hall.
  42. There’re many people sitting here.
  43. There’s some seats over there.
  44. There’s a large family waiting.
  45. Oh, a couple is unpacking their suitcases.
  46. They’re taking stuff out.
  47. Probably their luggage is over-weight.
  48. Tough luck.
  49. At least they have time to re-pack and don’t need to pay the extra weight charge.
  50. My feelings of uneasiness increase.
  51. I feel sad.
  52. It seems I always feel sad at the airport.
  53. I think I’ve only felt happy about an airport only if I’m flying away for a holiday.
  54. Or when I’m greeting somebody returning from overseas.
  55. Otherwise I feel sad.
  56. Oh well.
  57. Life is like that.
  58. Now.
  59. Before, when I was young, folks seldom flew overseas.
  60. Globalization makes the world smaller, when people are able to fly to places.
  61. He’s talking to me.
  62. I’ve got to take notes.
  63. Its about watering the plants, every alternate day, if it doesn’t rain during the day.
  64. I don’t look forward to this chore.
  65. It is back breaking work.
  66. I’m not alone.
  67. Other bloggers have to water their plants by hand too.
  68. I’m told to clear the junk in the front porch.
  69. I’ve got work cut out for me.
  70. I hope he returns soon.
  71. I edit that; I hope he returns asap.
  72. He talks to me about instructions for watering his potted plants and pruning divergent shoots.
  73. I write notes to remember.
  74. Where we’re seated, we can the snaking queue of passengers waiting to pass through the electronic gate.
  75. It doesn’t feel real.
  76. We’re parting for an indefinite period of time.
  77. Other passengers come to sit beside us too.
  78. An old lady insists on sitting beside me although the bench is only a single seater.
  79. She thinks she can squeeze to sit on my leftover half seat.
  80. She brushes me. Urgh.
  81. I carry on with my note writing.
  82. The old lady decides to walk away to a better seat.
  83. Somebody talks to the old lady and she walks away.
  84. I continue my own activity in writing notes.
  85. The old lady returns and eyes a man’s companion’s seat. He motions with his hands, “No”.
  86. She walks away to another seat farther away.
  87. Its time for another batch of passengers to walk to the departure gate.
  88. My family member decides it is time to leave.
  89. No courtesy hugs because it is overwhelmingly tough.
  90. We just say goodbye and hang around the barrier.
  91. He takes time to scan his face at the electronic gantry.
  92. Quite a number of tries.
  93. He’s finally in.
  94. He turns back to wave at us. We wave back.
  95. He looks at the electronic sign board to see which direction he should walk, to find his gate.
  96. He is at the far end. He turns around to wave again. We wave back.
  97. He walks beyond our line of sight.
  98. He is finally gone.
  99. My family is talking. They want to visit the smartphone store. To buy a screen protector.
  100. That’s a walk from here.
  101. Let’s go. I hope they can walk there without problem.
  102. Someone has a bad foot.
  103. Here are so many people walking with the flow of human traffic.
  104. There are equally so many people walking against the flow of pedestrian traffic.
  105. So many interesting people.
  106. No, wait. It is their fashionable clothing that’s interesting.
  107. I don’t know them.
  108. I can’t judge them to be interesting. Or not.
  109. Many people are pushing their luggage – cabin bags.
  110. Guess they have checked in their big luggage.
  111. Today is a crowded day at the airport.
  112. Thursday is the day just before ticket prices shoot up for the weekend.
  113. This is why its crowded on Thursday.
  114. We’ve reached the smartphone store inside this airport.
  115. The door greeter is a young man.
  116. He takes our request to check the store’s stock.
  117. Yes, they have screen protector in stock.
  118. He says to walk to the far end of the store, where the wall displays are.
  119. He says someone will serve us there.
  120. One store assistant is attending to several customers by multi-tasking.
  121. He has a female customer on his left. He has a female customer standing on his right. He has another female customer standing in front of him.
  122. We are his fourth customer at his table.
  123. He has to settle all their requests for service before he attends to us.
  124. Inbetween multi-tasking for them, he serves us. He asks us about our request.
  125. He texts a message to his storekeeper in the store room.
  126. We stand around and wait.
  127. Someone from the storeroom comes out with a screen protector.
  128. Our man is still busy talking to his early customers.
  129. One female customer leaves. The female customer in front of him is served by another store assistant.
  130. Our man is finally free to fix our order.
  131. He asks for payment.
  132. He says he has to fetch the applicator for fixing our new screen protector.
  133. He returns with the small device.
  134. He expertly peels off the old, cracked screen protector.
  135. He fixes the new screen protector.
  136. He is pleased.
  137. No bubbles, he says.
  138. A perfect fit.
  139. Hurray. he thanks us for waiting.
  140. We leave the store.
  141. Now for our next chore – walking to the supermarket.
  142. Just a few levels down to the supermarket.
  143. We’re here. It is quite empty and spacious.
  144. We’re taking a basket to grab a few essentials.
  145. The labels are big and easy to read.
  146. We get to the correct aisles.
  147. Our basket is full.
  148. We’re done.
  149. We’re heading for the cashier.
  150. No, not the very young trainee cashier.
  151. We don’t want to get stuck with a trainee.
  152. How about the next cashier?
  153. She’s quite experienced.
  154. Checking out is fast.
  155. Its done.
  156. Now to walk to the taxi stand.
  157. We’re a bit lost.
  158. There, that sign says taxi.
  159. We found the right taxi stand.
  160. There are cabs waiting.
  161. Good. We don’t have to wait.
  162. We get into a cab.
  163. Goodbye airport.
  164. It begins to get to me; the sad feeling that a family member has gone away.
  165. We have no date of his return.
  166. We hope to feel happy when its time to welcome home our family member.
