What part of your personality appeared later in life?

Rojie’s prompt question for July 6 is “What part of your personality appeared later in life?”

Writing from The Internet, July 6, 2026

Dear Reader,

I guess my creative persona appeared late in my life, when I had more time to maintain a hobby. Previously, I was working like a robot, be it in office, or at housework, chores and responsibilities. I used to have only four hours of sleep.

Earlier, in my childhood years, I was noted for my water color painting skills. I had an innate sense of color and would stick thick paints on paper. I made texture with water color paints. Nobody taught me how to do this and I did it as if I had known that would be the way. Alas, soon it was time to get serious about studies and I abandoned almost all my favorite pastimes like reading books, listening to music, painting and crochet. I used to be able to remember the pattern for a simple hat. I stopped all recreation to concentrate on my textbooks.

Like a true trooper, I listened to my elders and went into the science stream. I didn’t know I couldn’t force myself to study the three sciences. I did okay until at community college.

A few of my classmates went the opposite direction; they elected to switch their allocated places in science, exchanging it for the arts stream. They said their parents supported their decision to study arts.

The world is revolving and changing very fast. Workers should evolve with the requirements of the work force.

Later in life, when I couldn’t find an appropriate job with my paper qualifications, I worked freelance in sales and made simple art. I was dependent on one art agent and that was a big mistake when he ditched me.

I blog to practice writing. I cut my teeth in a small blogging platform which was competitive and not very social. Then I quit to write in my own blog. I like the web traffic stats and the rare comments in my blog. This part of my personality appeared late and is what I’m showing now.

Yours lately,

Cai.

P.S. Please share your journey in self-development. How did your personality develop to show up later in life? I’m interested to read your reflections.
