My meditation for 2nd Sunday of Lent March 1 2026

All Saints' Day Nov 1
All Saints’ Day Nov 1

1st Reading: Genesis 12: 1-4

When God called Abram to leave his familiar place, to settle in a strange land, he listened. When we face those kind of circumstances, do we behave like Abram? Do we trust God and follow His Will to lead us?

In this modern day context, when I lose a freelance project, I am asked to leave that work. I’m called to trust God’s Will, and search for a new piece of work for me.

2nd Reading – 2 Timothy 1: 8 – 10

I understand the main gist of this gospel is to tell us to lead a holy life. Recently, I have been reading contemporary fiction to write book reviews for blogging. I had been most uncomfortable with books across different genre, which contain adult erotic content. Those authors are famous, and some were nominated for international prizes, or have won accolades of world renown. I guess they have bowed to pressures to produce material with commercial value.

It is my personal opinion that I don’t want to read material that leads me to sin with my eyes, mind and heart. If I be reduced to read that type of books, I’ll skip the NSFW sections.

3rd Reading Gospel of Matthew 17: 1 – 9

This is the Transfiguration of Jesus, when he shines brilliantly because of his “aura”.

The questions for reflection are :

  1. Personal goal during Lent 2026 – I have to observe Lent, to fast with my eyes. I already have my habit of very modest meals so I’m not working on food fasting.
  2. Path during Lent 2026 – I have to learn patience, to keep silent, to do alternatives that don’t trigger my existentialist crisis.

These are difficult reflections.
