Meditative reflection of a STUMBLE

JusJoJan Jan 8th 2026 prompt

Upon some meditation, I’ve thought about what the prompt word, stumble, brings up in my mind.

When I first started blogging, I used a social bookmarking service, StumbleUpon. It wasn’t that popular, but it helped in certain topics. Then one day, it was canceled. A new word took over Stumble – mix.

Stumble is a very important word. It brings out the best and the worst. The worst being taking a stumble and falling hard. Someone in my family learned that too late. The falter made a life long impact. A small piece of bone shattered. The person spent a 1 1/2 years trying to salvage the broken bit but eventually had to admit defeat. An X-ray showed the devastating evidence. The bone broke in not one, but two pieces. It had to be amputated. A fake was inserted into the gap.

What caused the stumble?

The person saw a big insect crawling on the floor, and started running away. Turning back to check on whether they had outrun the insect, the person stumbled forward and smashed into a doorframe of the room. The head took the major blunt blow.

My meditative reflection brings up these reminders:

  1. Safety must always come first. Creepy crawly or not.
  2. Always get an X-ray done by a private clinic or hospital.
  3. Get a second opinion when a facing a major decision like a bone replacement.
  4. Never listen to suggestions to re-amputate and re-attach a new replacement.
  5. Professionals may recommend re-doing a big procedure because that’s the only big procedure for them.
  6. Money is needed to pay for replacements.
This is the way I brush my teeth.
