Meditation while Sitting Down: Sitting Down Meditation

Yoga’s new favorite pose for Generation Z.

Some people will name this as Sitting Down Meditation. When you’re sitting down, you can do meditation too. You can be seated in any position and pose. Many photos show the meditating person to be sitting down in a cross legged position. No, its not necessary to cross your legs when you sit down. You can sit upright comfortably on a chair and meditate. If you can’t cross your legs below your knees, you can sit in other positions. The link below shows one pose.

Some people ask if they can close their eyes when they are sitting and meditating. Yes, you may close your eyes, although I don’t think that is a good idea. As many people tend to fall asleep after they close their eyes.

So, what do you meditate on after you get into your comfy pose? The simplest meditation is to focus on your breathing. Relax and breathe in and exhale. Try to let go of thoughts as you’ll be stuck thinking of all kinds of possibilities. Let go.

How long can you sit still? A few minutes. Before you return to your humming life, mentally prepare yourself. What is it that you need to get back to before your meditation? Go back to your busy life gently.
