When there is plenty of a favorite food, it loses its appeal.

Meditation to prevent wastage
Waste not, want not. This old adage is wise. Many a time, we buy more food than we can consume. The calling of greed is loud in our head. Sometimes, the retailer shouts louder, about a discount that we simply can not pass up. Sure, we can store the food for later use but we soon tire of eating the same food. When we next have an urge to use that food, we look at its best by date, only to discover that it’s shelf life has expired. The remainder is tossed into the garbage.
But we can feed the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and other wild life. No. They will will to harass you even after the offered food runs out.
Besides, food for humans often has added supplements, preservatives, and condiments which are unsuitable for the digestive systems of animals. They may suffer organ damage and eventually pass away. I have a relative who used to own a cute dog. They fed it human food like biscuits, chocolates and other delicious foods, because they loved their pet and wanted to pamper it. The poor dog lived a short life.
What can we do to prevent wastage of food? We can buy smaller portions of food or share the food with our close relatives, friends and neighbors. Spread some love around. The people who can’t afford to return in kind, will remember you in gratitude. You may benefit from their positive thoughts, prayers and good deeds.
