Meditating with Margaret Atwood’s Book Of Lives

Margaret Atwood’s Book Of Lives

I’m reading Margaret “Peggy” Atwood’s Book Of Lives and meditating on her messages. She was born into a life living with nature. People used to assume that hillbillies possess certain mindsets, and behaviors and they are wrong. Folks who live in the country, sometimes endearingly referred to country mice, are resourceful and can masquerade as city mice too. We can learn a lot from nature and our stimulated brains are further enriched.

People who live in rural areas are resourceful because they have to make do with whatever is in hand, to cope with their needs. If they desire to eat a specific food, they have to cook it from scratch. Peggy’s mom cooked and baked for the family. Likewise, Peggy cooked and baked food for occasions like children’s parties. Reflecting and meditating on this, I learn that we can cope with our given circumstances. People rise to the occasion, instead of complaining. When the young Atwood family was living on rural land, they lacked a refrigerator, but devised methods to preserve their food.

I live in the city, surrounded by modern amenities. My daily living is aided by modern equipment. I’m thankful for this. I have some time to do other work.

Everything in the universe is within youAsk all from yourself.
