Meditating on thankfulness Nov 10 – 13 2025

I was meditating on my thanks for Ten Things of Thankfulness (TToT). This is my list.

(1) For the opportunity to observe a bird nesting on a low tree branch.

(2) Rain.

(3) We could purchase half of our weekly groceries, early on Monday, to allay fears of being unable to leave the house because of thunderstorms.

(4) We went to get something which was on a delayed price hike, before the price escalates.

(5) Thankful there was no repeat of previous Booker Prize winner bagging the award for this year. Kiran Desai was tipped to be one of two authors who had better odds of winning, but it wasn’t given to her. Her latest book is full of tropes, superstitions, supernatural, cultural incidents, shapeshifter fantasy, and old world traditions. Finally on Nov. 10, it was revealed that David Szalay won for his book Flesh. I’ve not read it yet but plan to get a copy. Is anybody else tracking the yearly Booker Prize winner?

(6) Thanks for readers for the TToT posts.

(7) Thanks for one more blogger who may participate in next year’s A to Z Challenge, depending on her schedule and availability of time. We have four of us now. The topics are fabrics, topical days of the week, undetermined, and drawing.

The list so far:

  1. how-would-you-know.com (theme on fabrics)
  2. messymimismeanderings.blogspot.com (topical)
  3. thankfulme.net (To be determined)
  4. artmater.com (drawings)
  5. To-be-filled when you drop a comment to inform me of your blog address.

(8) Since it has been raining, the distributors selling dehumidifiers have offered a Substantial discount off their product, if buyers purchase a twin pack offer. With all this rain, we need double packs of dehumidifiers. Otherwise, where will the moisture in the atmosphere go? Please, not to encourage mold, fungus, and slime.

(9) Thanks for TToT itself.

(10) I’m thankful for having some time to read books.

  1. One thing I have found interesting about the TTOT through the years is how many similarities pop up in lists each week. Books made it to my list today. I haven’t been following the Booker Prize, but I definitely am thankful for books!

  2. I did hear David Szalay talking about Flesh, the morning after his win but my TBR pile(s) are 14 deep x 5 and I durst not order anything else…
Yes! We will be quite the contingent for April’s A to Z!
    Great list!

  3. This is a very happy list. I do the A to Z each year, since I post every day, I figure I might as well.

  4. ah the blessings of reading… a habit before sleep… unfortunately, I have of late found my ‘awake/asleep’ border zone getting increasingly narrow minutes rather than hours… I blame my Kindle
    lol
no! serially! we have three or four bookcases of reading largely paperbacks… I really enjoy books, but the Kindle ayiiee it is so much easier for reading in bed.

oh well, at least stories and books last longer (when reading for 10 minutes at a time
