What do you do when someone disturbs your peace?

  1. Firstly, say firmly to yourself, “No one disturbs my peace”. Other affirmations of self-worth follow.
  2. Affirmation #2 “I’m not too proud to accept criticism that disturbs my mental peace”.
  3. Affirmation #3 “I’m not obliged to please others at the cost of my expense”.
  4. Affirmation #4 “I send away the disturbance and replace it with a blessing”.
  5. Affirmation #5 “I believe in the power of good replacing all bad”.
  6. “I have my weaknesses but my peace makes me whole”.
  7. My values, actions and attitudes agree to make me strong. If you experience conflict, it means you have to make changes somewhere.
  8. If you harbor resentment, and other negative attitudes, you must remove them to feel at peace with yourself.
  9. What do you meditate on when you want peace to return to you? Be aware of your body language. Relax your body and stop showing aggression towards your enemies. Every action warrants a reaction. Hostile body language invites equally wary body language from your enemies. You will feel more stress. If you stop showing hostility, the opposite party will also stop showing hostility.
  10. In real life, it is a crime to disturb the peace. One can be arrested for disturbing the peace.
  11. Make friends with your enemies. Turn your enemies into friends.
  12. Turn your angry energy into something useful. If you turn your negative energy towards others, you are creating more disturbances.
  13. Everyone has ego, desire for power, control and respect. Some people show off their power and ego by controlling others. Thus they disturb the peace.
  14. If you criticise someone, you’re disturbing their mental peace and health. They will respond to defend themselves. Then it is your turn to have your peace disturbed. You’re unlikely to enjoy this. So do unto others what you would like others to do unto you.
  15. Establish a small personal space for your inner sanctuary, where you go to meditate for peace. Whenever you feel stressed, try to spend time in your sanctuary. If you’re unable to be physically present in your sanctuary, visualize it in your mind. Remember your peace when you were in your private space and feel it. You may be able to feel peace.
  16. If you see a few people disturbing you peace in one day, it can mean you have too much going on in your hands. It is time to slow down the pace.
  17. When someone disturbs your peace, you can try to calm them by listening to their grievances. It comforts them by seeing you care for them.
  18. If you are discouraged by the idea of keeping long term peace, try to maintain peace for a shorter period of time. You need to convince yourself and others that peace is achievable. Once peace is maintained for a short time, it persuades and convinces others that peace is attainable and they will change their mind set about peace. They may be persuaded to work for peace among peoples.
  19. It helps to remember famous quotes about peace. When ever you encounter anger or unquiet, think and meditate on your favorite words on peace. Besides quotes, there are poetry, prayers and songs about peace. Learn those words by heart. Meditate on those words whenever your peace is shaken.
  20. If possible, take the initiative to be the first to make a peace offering. It can be words of apology, a gesture of friendship, an act of sharing and etc.
  21. You don’t need to do everything in this list. You can just meditate on this list and do whatever you think is appropriate at this stage in your current situation.
