
After reading Proverbs Chapter 6, I choose to meditate and remember lines 4 – 5:
Give your eyes no sleep
and your eyelids no slumber;
Save yourself like a gazelle from the hunter,
like a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Taking these lines literally, I recall how the hunter usually talked noisily and banned us from sleeping in the early dawn, for around 3 hours at a stretch, for every alternate night. The “hunter” asked me to do a certain forbidden thing which results in me being punished. The hunter said that if I submit myself to the bigger punishment, I would be allowed to sleep. But that bigger punishment may lead to heart attack and possible death.
