This is Helen’s prompt for June 26 2025.
I love Helen’s questions for writing prompts. They get me thinking and then I have ideas to write.
If I lost two hour daily, I would have to restructure my day to regain 2 hours, to compensate for my loss. Here are a few ways which I can steal 2 hours:
- I wake up 2 hours earlier than my usual waking hour. This means I steal 2 hours from my sleep, to make up for lost time.
- I sleep 2 hours later than my usual bedtime, so that I get 2 hours more to do what I want.
- I try to do my work, chores, and activities faster than my usual pace because I’ve lost 2 hours and have less time.
- I try to reduce the amount of work, chores and activities in my day. For example, (a) I would eliminate my desire to mop the floors because I have less time. I would reduce the frequency of mopping the floors.
(b) I would cook simpler meals to reduce my time spent in the kitchen preparing and cooking food.
(c) I may buy ready-made meals to cut down on time spent on meal preparations.
(d) I won’t iron my clothes, unless it is absolutely necessary.
5. If I have any family member who has some time to help in household chores, I would ask them to chip in some work and ease the severe time constraint on me.
(6) I would buy my groceries online and have them delivered to my doorstep. For fresh produce that can’t be ordered online, I’ll buy in bulk and store them at home.
Helen also asks the opposite question, on how to handle gaining 2 hours of time – I answer Helen’s question on “If you had an extra 2 hours daily, how would you spend it?”
