I saw North by North West, a 1959 film directed and produced by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock, in a special screening at a local theater. It was to honor the re-opening of an old historical site, which was preserved for the sake of historical significance, culture and pride.
Review of theater / cinema hall
The seats were replaced by smooth plastic which had a faint resemblance to vinyl. The smooth plastic is easier for cleaning and maintenance. In times of epidermic, a quick wipe down with disinfectant would suffice.
The arm rests lacked a drink holder. Maybe the cinema operator foresaw the convenience of lazy patrons who would be leaving their beverage containers behind.
Review of movie timing: 5 pm on Sunday evening – inconsiderate for workers who need to return home early, sleep early, get ready for Monday working day.
I like Alfred Hitchcock movies but I stop short of supporting his works in sub-par cinema halls.
Review of food sold for movie ticket holders
Pathetic. Popcorn, mixed un-shelled nuts, cookies with cream, bottled drinks in a fridge. A theater is cold. Why sell only cold bottled drinks?
The movie was over 2 hours long, from 5 pm to 7:15 pm. Sustainable foods must be sold. I suggest the theater operators invest in a kitchen to cook or assemble quick-cook foods.
Most feature films are over 2 hours in duration. Meals should be sold.
My companion bought a box of popcorn and shuddered at the sight of aerated drinks. I bought a tiny cone of mixed nuts. The cold drinks were unappetizing.
Audio & visual equipment inside theater
Standard.
Review of movie
I enjoyed it.
Please read the wikipedia write-up for the plot.

Review of upcoming shows / sneaks
Patrons were handed a catalog of future films to be screened at the same venue.
I feel it is highly unlikely that I would ever be returning to support iconic theaters just because they are shells of a historical period. For a similar amount of money, I could have a better experience with my transport, seat, food and entertainment experience.
