Helen asks “Have you ever been disappointed by a famous person, or someone you looked up to?” This is her prompt for June 19, 2025. She said to re-use her old prompts as she is not writing new prompts.

I was disappointed by someone I respected. She was a relative. She was busy with her family, her relatives, social life and friends. She was not contactable when I needed to ask for her advice. On the rare occasions when she visited me, she asked me to keep a spare bedroom for her. I was too disappointed in the past so I didn’t put importance in her request. She would be too busy to stay with me. Her family and close relatives did not welcome the enquiries about how to contact her. What is the need of a bedroom for her?

I continued to struggle in my own corner. Then I met my life changing episode where I had only one recourse and I took it. I moved. I tried to contact my relative again. She said she was not in a good position to help me. Her place of stay was unsuitable to be recommended to me. It was not a good place to live in. The surroundings were pretty, the quality of air was good, but it was difficult to make a living.

She stopped writing to me. She was always the busy butterfly, flirting from flower to flower.

That was fate. I was not meant to move to her city. I lived in my corner until major changes made it possible for me to move to a safer and better place. I don’t wonder on the alternate situations oof “what if”. I think it was impossible to go the other way of what if. I had contacted and communicated with my relative three times on three separate occasions. None of these were suitable timings or opportunities to reconnect. She was not a clutch for me.

The first time I realized this, I was sad. Later, I grew used to it and I let go.
