The question is Helen’s prompt for May 5, 2025. My answer is:
When I first wake up every morning, I look forward to my first tiny cup of coffee of the day. I use Nescafe’s Instant Express Coffee powder. It dissolves into boiling hot water. I don’t use coffee beans or ground coffee powder.

I write “tiny” cup of coffee as I pour 1/4 cup of boiling water into my mug that has 1 leveled teaspoon of Expresso instant coffee. This way, I don’t dilute my coffee with an un-necessary quantity of water. This is how I make my coffee strong.
Once, when I shopped at my supermarket, my cashier asked me why I had a bottle of high intensity grade of Nescafe in my cart. I told her I need strong coffee every morning. She said she used two teaspoons of normal grade coffee in her cuppa. She said it was cheaper to consume coffee this way, than to buy the more costly bottle of high intensity grade coffee. Two teaspoons of normal grade coffee equals one teaspoon of high grade concentrated coffee.
One morning, I woke up feeling especially sleepy. I decided to try the cashier’s idea. Except that I wasn’t using normal grade instant coffee; I was using high intensity instant coffee. I scooped up a huge, heaped teaspoon of instant coffee and poured into my coffee mug. I added a large teaspoon of sugar and poured boiling water. I took a sip and it tasted strong. I thought it was going to make me wake up. Bottoms up.
I started my usual morning routine. I did my usual activities. I’ve blogged about this earlier in https://artmater.com/heres-my-morning-routine-whats-yours-before-after-painting-doodles/
