Rojie asks, “What are you curious about right now?” It is her prompt for June 8. I can’t follow the day to day schedule because I can only think of certain topics as and when they inspire me to write.
I’m curious about a topic right now, so I can answer this prompt.
I’m researching on travel issues. I seldom travel so I need a “refresher course” on Travel.
Question: What do I pack for emergency food?
Answer: I plan to pack ready-to-eat meals, biscuits, dry sponge cake packaged as single slices, apples, some bottled drinks and water. They should last me one meal or 1 day, until I get my bearings and can obtain a steady supply of food for every meal.
When I visited a relative’s family overseas, she didn’t want to cook dinner for us. She told me to cook myself. The next day, she asked me to cook for all the people staying inside the house. All food had to be hand made from scratch. That’s a place where people don’t order home delivery or buy take-out.
They require bread or/ plain pizza/ taco/ prata/ dough slices for lunch and dinner. Additionally, in every meal, there was one main vegetable dish to cook, plus one or two side dishes. Each person’s portion was at least 2 slices per meal. They didn’t accept plain rice as their carb dish, because they said they’ll get diabetes. They hate eating potatoes for carb too. The woman said, “We’re not cows who eat potatoes”. Well, excuse me. Gazillions of humans eat french fries and that made fast food chains literally trillionaires.
This could be a trip for a work purpose, which means I’ll stay in a hotel. Their in-house restaurant may have operational serving hours. If I reach there at an inconvenient hour, I might not get to eat in-house, or even order room service. This is when emergency food is required.
Question: What can I write about for my travel stories?
Answer: All the common topics have been written to oblivion. I’ll try personal storytelling. I have a work itinerary so I don’t need to plan a tourist sight-seeing one. I doubt if I will have time and money visiting tourist attractions.
Question: What must I pack?
Answer: Everything I use, that is, my portable items, from A to Z, for my day and night. I worry about my luggage weight! I may not pack non-essential stuff.
If only I could carry my house on my back, then I won’t have packing problems.
This is what I can write presently. If I can think of more original stuff, I’ll continue here.
