What is the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize?
The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize began in 2016, to recognize, pay tribute and educate the world on the excellence of artisan crafts. This body has a Panel of 12 art experts who view and vet craftworks from all over the world. Thirty finalists are selected to vie for the winning entry, selected by the Jury of 14 art experts. All finalists and the winner crafts are exhibited in far reaching venues.
Pre-event
I was first alerted to this event when I spotted a full page ad with the venue, time, and duration of exhibition.
What did I achieve by attending this event?
I gained knowledge of this Foundation, their mission and the possibility of me making and submitting an entry for this Craft Prize. Those interested can visit loewe.com to learn more.
Where and how crafts were displayed?
The collection of craftworks was displayed in a large exhibition room. Individual crafts were displayed according to their requirements. Jewelry were safely enclosed in showcases. A metal artwork was sealed in a glass showcase, presumably to prevent oxidisation.

Reflections
This will be coming up soon. Reflections are about what each piece of craft solicits from me.
Migratory Birds on necklace chain
“If you could choose to be reincarnated in another life form, what would you like to become?”
During a casual lunchtime group chat, that question was playfully thrown out. One colleague replied she wanted to be a bird, because she desired freedom to soar.
This craft reminds me of my former colleague.
Collier, two gold chains
Gold is an investment. It is a good material to use and keep.
I hope more artists will participate in this competition year after year. Viewers and interested people can visit the website to see where the exhibition is held, or travel to the country nearest their home, where the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize is being exhibited. The viewing takes around 1 hour or more, depending on your level of interest. Visitors need not spend money staying in a hotel, for visiting this exhibition. Otherwise, visit the Loewe website to see the photos online.
