I first “met” John Holton at the A – Z Challenge 2025 pre-sign up Google document. I visited every blogger down the list from 1 to 55, before I grew fatigued. You must be asking how many bloggers returned visits. I needed to count on two handfuls and three toes. I give thanks to these bloggers.
The second time I encountered John was in pensitivity101.wordpress.com . That made up my mind to participate in John’s Writers’ Workshop Prompts.
Every Thursday, John hosts Writers’ Workshop Prompts.
This week’s Writers’ Workshop Prompts (March 20 2025):
- Write a post based on the word predictions.
- Write a post in exactly 10 lines (sentences).
- Write about an encounter with a very difficult person.
- Tell us a story about an allergic reaction.
- Talk about a moment when you felt especially proud of yourself.
- What was the spiciest food you ever ate? How did you react when you ate it?

I’m not a writer. I hope to become one. I need to read and write. Please excuse my lame attempts.
Writers’ Workshop Prompt #1 – Predictions.
I used to look for signs as predictions to foretell upcoming events. Those superstitions usually didn’t pan out. Now I look for data, and related information that will form the basis for my belief. This method works better for me.
Writers’ Workshop Prompt #6 – The Spiciest Food I Ever Ate.
I stick out my burning tongue with the red chili. (Also spelled chilli or chile). I’m sure nobody needs to read about how spicy it is. What’s more interesting is how I manage to navigate this discomfort. I drank some milk. How to explain this? I read up Google and it explained that the milk protein casein forms a bond to the spicy capsaicin. This action renders capsaicin harmless (non-spicy).
You may wonder why I would be so foolish as to eat spicy chili. Sometimes, chili is hidden in the food when it is added as chili powder, or when it is in thick gravy.
These days, I almost never eat or drink any spicy food/ beverage. Like the proverb says, “Once bitten, twice shy”.
