Writer’s Workshop April 24 2025

Writer’s Workshop April 24 2025 prompts:

  1. Write a post based on the word recovery.
  2. Write a post in exactly 9 sentences (lines).
  3. Tell us about something you will absolutely not put up with.
  4. Write about something you’ve found ironic recently.
  5. Tell us the story of your favorite memento.
  6. Would you rather have a personal chef or a personal driver? Why?

I’m writing about 1, 3 and 6.

1)Recovery

Recovery from psychological trauma takes a long time. I faced one serious issue from multiple encounters over the course of two years. I took around 10 years to slowly heal. The others around me didn’t acknowledge the aggression or think it was serious enough to warrant attention. I moved away from the cause of it but the sting remained with me.

If there’s any consolation for the reader to know, the perpetuator themself became the target of intensified discrimination after I left.

Karma.

3) I won’t tolerate being a second choice or a consolation prize

Be it a job, or a friend, I don’t want to accept being second pick. I can’t explain my aversion to it. I know it is a part of me, maybe in my DNA.

I used to feel sorrowfully rejected after I received news that I was declined. This has happened to me in formal applications, as well as in social situations. I accepted the verdicts and moved on. Somebody might ask if I had moved on too quickly and not given the other party a chance to recalibrate and reset.

I don’t trust the person who has rejected me. Its like the old proverb; once bitten, twice shy.

6) I would hire a chef over a driver. My female friend told me she regretted hiring a nurse maid over a cook for her household. Its because child care can be performed by almost anybody who has common sense. Experience with kids can be picked up with practical hands-on. Whereas its not easy to cook for parties and revolving menus for a home. But anyone else can take over the duty of supervising the kid. Even the nurse has to eat.
