Physical appearances are deceptive. While the crab has 10 legs, it doesn’t mean it can win the race against the four legged critters. A crab moves forward by slowly crawling and dragging its body. It is better equipped to move quickly be deploying its sideways walk.
A frog can leap high over a seemingly big distance but it wastes energy in the forward thrust. It can’t jump continuously without resting.
The rabbit is the heaviest creature in the race. While it hops, it doesn’t cover much distance in one hop.
