I wish I could always believe in the myth of the gentle giant. My experiences have taught me otherwise. In humans or otherwise, sometimes, there are no concessions. The weak present the opportunity to be bullied. Even cannibalism can be seen. What can we do when we can not fight? Run. We preserve life, live another day, to fight or run again. This continues until we can’t run away from old age or disease. In the meantime, I still delight in occasional meetings with gentle giants.
