There are two trade fairs in town and I went to both for some shopping retail therapy. Today is their second day, of the four days’ “carnival”.
I visited a medium sized trade fair selling culture specific products. I don’t belong to that culture but I appreciate the good things. I bought a cheap maxi skirt and a large polyester bag. The bag is to replace my heavy, canvas one. I didn’t shop like there’s no tomorrow.
The aisles were wide and the booths were tidy and sparkling. The products were neatly stacked. There were clothes, household accessories, copper wares, clay pottery wares, metal gongs, handbags, small hot bags, totes, handmade sandals, shoes, many types of costume jewelry, silver jewelry, packed food, snacks, herbal oils, a fortune teller and a booth selling kids’ magic tricks boxes. And an insurance booth, in case you want to buy a policy. There’s something for everyone, from all walks of life.
It was good to see beautiful, crafted wares. I appreciated the fine workmanship and details – the beauty in manmade wares. This environment was different from anybody’s usual one. The uniqueness is breath-taking. I didn’t spend excessively. It was like walking through a cultural experience. I took in the beautiful sights, like a meditative walk through culture.
