Poem:
Trees remind me of permanence when I experienced impermanence.
While I was living away from home,
I used to fly back for visits.
I saw familiar trees
on familiar roads.
My heart ached.
Those trees have lived
on familiar soil
since being planted,
while I was uprooted
to somewhere far away.
I thought it wasn’t fair.
I was jealous of those trees.
I pined for home.
Then one day,
I was uprooted again –
to return to my familiar ground.
I praised and thanked God.
Now I’m not jealous of these trees.
