We hear sounds and speech in dreams. So what does it mean when we dream of quiet? This could be due to the environment in the dream. It would be strange to dream of a quiet place. Dreams may be stimulated by sounds we hear during our day. The lack of one stimulus, that is, sounds/ noise, might be compensated by other stimuli that drown out the sounds. The lack of sound is in itself, a negative stimulus.
