Its still too early to rest your laurels. Coronavirus may be a pandemic of the past but the humble flu is still ravishing health & lives. Here’s one coronavirus related update for 2025.
Barbie Hsu, 48, died on Feb. 2 2025. The Taiwanese actress succumbed to pneumonia, brought on by influenza. Her death sparked a big wave of people seeking the ‘flu jab. On the land where I live, over 2000 vials of flu vaccine were jabbed over a period of days as people reacted in fear after reading of Mdm Hsu’s death while on holiday in Japan.
Liang You Cheng, 27, an actor from China, died of influenza, on Jan. 30, 2025. He was admitted into hospital belatedly and failed to respond to treatment.
Why are people dying from the common flu? Barack Obama warned about the flu epidemic and how it can be similar to the Spanish Flu/ Great Influenza (1918 – 1920). Then came Coronavirus 2019 – 2023.
At any one time, there can be a shortage of vaccines for influenza/ coronavirus/ epidemics. Get your shot early, at the outbreak of any news on people getting seriously ill or dead from disease. I took a long trip down to check in at my old, regular clinic and their notice was posted at the door. They have run out of influenza vaccines since the day the local newspaper ran their article all doses were snapped up after readers experienced anxiety and panic of FOMO (fear of missing out). Long after the same newspaper published news of the stock running out, more patients were calling in to enquire about the availability of this much sought after vaccine. The next incoming flight of vaccines will only be available sometime in March. (Don’t panic, at least its March 2025).
