Jealousy writes itself in this prompt May 2 2026

My sibling has always been jealous of me. He sullies my name to everybody – not only behind my back, but also in my presence.

According to his many arguments, I was the black sheep in the family. I should be banned and outcast. His motive was to be the apple of every family member’s eye. When I was growing up, I didn’t understand the extent of his slandering of my reputation. I did receive feedback from my elders that I was judged guilty of many family misunderstandings. For several years, I was ignored. Nobody outside my family knew why I was working and not studying.

In one of his personal altercations with a family member, I witnessed him pointing a small pocket knife at one of our elders. He scraped the old man’s nose bridge. There was blood.

Another person living with the family lied that the elder scratched his nose with his own spectacle frame.

The old man said my sibling pointed a knife at him. The rest of the family ignored the old man because they thought his testimony was unreliable.

I didn’t speak up.

In return, my sibling continued to throw curved balls at all of us.

These large inflatable balloons are called the Goofs - they look like UFOs. They are 4 in a set of primary colors red, yellow, blue and then an extra green.

I make a wild guess that inanimate objects are not jealous of each other.
