My meditation for 2nd Sunday of Easter, also known as Divine Mercy Sunday

In John 20: 19 – 31, the disciple Thomas asked Jesus to show him the mark of nails in his hands and let him feel the hole by the side of Jesus’ body. He wanted to see and feel with his senses, the proofs of Jesus’ suffering passion.

Julian of Norwich was a religious laity who spent her life meditating. She asked God to grace her with visions of Jesus during his Passion. She also asked to be inflicted with an illness so that she could suffer. Her last petition was to ask for three wounds.

How many of us would ask for suffering? We’re usually impatient and/ or doubtful when we have to shoulder suffering in trials.

Jesus will help us carry our cross. It gets better with time.
