Violations of the Personal Information Protection Act and
the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization:
Lee, 18, a female high school student, from Hongseong, in South Chungcheong province in South Korea, wanted to eat ice cream so desperately that she took it from an unmanned store. The shopowner had cameras which captured the unauthorised removal of ice cream, and sent them to a local study room. This could be a violation of the Personal Information Protection Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization. In a self-righteous move, the head of this study room shared the photos, in a bid to identify the culprit and shame her. This is also possibly a violation of information communication laws.
In South Korea, it is illegal to make public images of people which can be identified. This is a violation of privacy and people can sue for defamation.
Lee told her brother that she could not get pass this episode as she was feeling very anxious. Her mother wanted to talk to the shop owner the next day, to resolve this issue.
Lee didn’t wait. She killed herself that night.
One life for the cost of one ice-cream.
Who can live with the conscience of causing a death for the price of one ice cream?
There are many people in all levels of society and all walks of life, who act high and mighty with strangers. Like circulating images of possibly scandalous acts. They spare no thoughts for the victim.
I have a neighbor who acts like that. She talks loudly about alleged behaviors of others, in gaslighting. How many of you actually believe that an older woman would have the luxury of time and energy, to be a cougar, trying to entice a mentally disabled, slow man in his 30s?
One of the many psychological stimulations of sadistic gaslighters is the dopamine high they get when they are abusing a person.
Here’s another story of failure to protect young person – https://artmater.com/failed-meditation-reflection/
Although young people are more susceptible to psychological abuse, people of any age can also be abused. You wouldn’t do that to your relatives and friends.
Would you?
