When I was a young child, my aunt gifted me a straw bonnet. Not the natural, organic, dried straws of grass, but the plastic, drinking straws type. Each straw was flattened, to become a strand for weaving. The basic color was purple and its alternate base color was white. The straw fabric composed of alternating purple and white straws. Each row of conjoined straws was machine stitched to ensure adherence.
The hat was pretty. I wore it for outdoor excursions and it served me well. I used it until my head grew out of it.
