\nOne night in a dream, I met my old friend S. He wore a wool beanie. In waking life, I had never seen him wear a beanie before. S. looked the same, as young as he was 20 years ago. He asked me why I didn’t talk to him. I said, “How can I? My life has gone a different turn.”<\/p>\n
\nDreaming of an old friend was triggered by nostalgia. We were split by circumstances when his business failed and he went away. I sent him messages for a year before I lost hope and gave up. This was an episode of unfinished business because he left without explaining or formally breaking up. I didn’t understand that no communication meant he was still holding on to some hope that we would meet up again. I thought no answer meant his answer was no. I moved on. I didn’t receive any news about S. so it was a mystery that was nagging at the back of my mind. I suppose that meeting him in my dream was a kind of redemption for me, to inform me that I was’t rejected entirely. This part of the invented dream was meant for my ego, to tell me that I wasn’t rejected. My dream ended when I woke up at 4:30 am.<\/p>\n
