Dream about buying turnips https://artmater.com/simple-recipes-for-cooking-turnips/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 00:37:26 +0000 https://artmater.com/?p=24889 Why did you dream about buying turnips? Maybe you like to eat turnips? Turnips have a tough appearance and feel, but they become soft with the heat of cooking. A turnip is a root vegetable. Which means that dream imagery of turnips can mean goodness from the natural environment. You maybe getting good news about a natural, organic opportunity . On the other hand, this ground vegetable also represents hardiness. The dream imagery means being tough.

Here are some simple recipes for cooking turnips. When you’re searching for recipes on cooking turnips, search also for cooking radishes. Turnips and radishes are basically the same.

Without further ado, we write on recipes for cooking turnips.

Cooking turnips:

  1. Turnip soup
  2. Turnip in gravy
  3. Dry fried turnip slices

Turnip soup:

Cut the root vegetable into thick chunks or small cubes. In a pot, add carrot, potato, mushroom, peas, corn kernels, diced onion, a garlic clove, at least 2 thin slices of ginger, and a pinch of salt. Measure 2 cups of water for every serving because you’re going to boil a while to extract the juices from the vegetables.

Turnip in gravy:

Slice thinly. Dice a small onion, garlic and two slices of ginger. Fry these in a pan with a tablespoon of oil in low heat. If you like spices or spice powder, add them in. Beat up an egg. Pour this into pan and stir. When you can smell the fragrance, add the turnip slices and stir fry in low heat. If your ingredients are getting dry, add a small amount of boiled water, enough to wet the pan. This prevents the veggies from being burned. Use a fork to pierce a slice of turnip. If you test the consistency and its soft enough, it means your turnip dish is cooked. Turn off the heat and empty the pan into a serving dish.

Dry fried turnip slices:

Slice turnip thinly. Spread slices on a clean tray. Salt them thinly. In a bowl, prepare your dry batter for coating those turnip slices. What do you like in fried foods? Beat up an egg. Add a dash of ground pepper, curry powder, tomato sauce, chilli sauce & whatever else you like in garnishing. Get a plain biscuit/ cracker and put it over this bowl. Crash it in your hand and drop into bowl. Stir this batter. Heat up your frying pan with oil. When you see steam rising, the oil is hot enough to start frying. Take slices of prepared turnip and coat them in this batter. Place turnip slices into your pan. When the cooked side is done, overturn it. I recommend using a flat frying pan, instead of a deep pot of hot oil because it uses less oil. I don’t recommend recycling the same oil to cook other foods.

This dry fried turnip is not of cracker stiffness. If you want to make turnip chips, you need to prepare. The thin, sliced and salted turnip slices require drying in sunlight. Or dry them in low heat oven setting, for 10 minutes. Then you continue with the same procedure as above.

This is an old post on dream interpretation of turnips. What it can mean when you dream about turnips.

Are you good to yourself with self-love & self-care?

How do you know if you’re good to yourself? What’s self love? Do you practice self-love by accepting yourself unconditionally?

What’s the difference between self-love and self-care? Self love has been defined above. Self care means taking the time to pamper and treat yourself because you’re good where you’re at right now.

There are distinctions between the terminology of “good to yourself”, “self-love” and “self-care”. For now, we’re not fussy with micro differentiations. We’re going to discuss about being good to yourself in a simple checklist.

  1. Believe in yourself.
  2. Trust yourself to decide what’s best for you.
  3. Put yourself first.
  4. Don’t allow people to bully you. Fight or leave.
  5. Speak up. Silence is not acceptance.
  6. Maintain boundaries for your personal time and space.
  7. Never give up on your needs. Keep them in sight.
  8. Express your emotions in a safe place.
  9. You are not responsible for other people. Stop taking the buck for them.
  10. Prioritise your work to reduce anxiety.
  11. Accept rejections and move on. You’ll be alright.
  12. It’s not you at fault. It’s them.
  13. If you feel lonely, spend time with your hobbies or friends.
  14. Focus on your present to reduce anxiety.
  15. Whenever nervous, breathe deeply.
  16. Be frank on addictions and toss them out..
  17. Don’t procrastinate – just do it or back out.
  18. If you can’t make a decision, choose what you feel is right..
  19. Address your fears to banish them.
  20. Never sleep on frustrations.
  21. Examine your life and write your guidelines to handle situations.
  22. Look for the silver lining in every gray cloud.
Everyone loves bowling.

Do you still play the claw machine? https://artmater.com/do-you-still-play-the-claw-machine/ https://artmater.com/do-you-still-play-the-claw-machine/#respond Sat, 12 Jun 2021 02:46:49 +0000 https://artmater.com/?p=21303 I do – I still play the claw machine because hey, its fun. For $10, you get several chances to win a cute soft toy you would otherwise never buy directly from a store. You may feel shy to carry a soft toy to the counter to purchase it. The claw machine is impersonal. It doesn’t judge you for trying to win a cuddly icon to bring home.

The down side of playing the claw machine is that you might never win to successfully grab a toy. Even if you do clench the metal claw to grip a toy, the gear may be programed to shake free the toy in the jaws of its non-deathly grasp. The machine fights to retain its prized possession within the confines of its enclosure.

In spite of all this, I still play the claw machine. I want to believe I have a chance of winning a toy.

Do you still play the claw machine?

Mental Health Tips #1: Eat brain food https://artmater.com/mental-health-tips-1-eat-brain-food/ https://artmater.com/mental-health-tips-1-eat-brain-food/#respond Fri, 11 Jun 2021 13:49:35 +0000 https://artmater.com/?p=21062 Eat brain food to become brainy!

Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EPA & DHA) are necessary for a normal, functional brain. Your brain obtains these from fish like cod fish, tuna, salmon & sardines. If you’re on a strict diet and/ or budget, you still need to consume these to maintain a healthy brain. The fresh fish are expensive, but the canned varieties are affordable. The daily balanced diet should include protein in every meal. One standard sized (small) can of tuna/ salmon/ sardines should suffice to stretch for lunch and dinner. Choose an easy cook carbohydrates in any form that you can muster. Toss in a small fresh salad and fruit. You have a fuss free, complete meal. Nuts are brain food as they contain protein and amino acids too. Roasted, baked or cooked in any form, nuts are a tasty ingredient in salads. You can add sliced hard boiled egg, boiled potato and other boiled stem/ tubers.

If you really manage natural food sources, buy supplements.

You are what you eat. If you’re not eating food for your brain, it will show in manifest signs and symptoms. For example, a person whose diet lacks essential fatty acids may feel depressed, anxious or exhibit a trait that is the subsequence of nutritional deficiency. The physical stress on the body, coupled by mental stress and emotional stress, may trigger mental illnesses like depression, schizophrenia and etc.

  1. Eat them straight up cold from the chiller.
  2. Freeze them to become little icy popsicles.
  3. Serve with a dash of whipped cream or ice cream.
  4. Slice them thinly and immerse them in cold drinking water to make a refreshing infusion drink.
  5. If you have one cooking pot of strawberries to make jam, wash and clean them of their stems. Slice thinly and grate them. Boil them and add sugar according to taste. If you have gelatin/ jelly making crystals, dissolve and stir several tablespoons in hot water and stir. Add this to the strawberry jam and bring to boil. Cool it and then refrigerate.

Tanya hosts her blog called Salted Caramel. This week’s writing prompt is about your five ways to eat strawberries.
